Hosting the March Madness Alaska State Basketball Tournament is an honor and a privilege for the city of Anchorage as it is an opportunity to welcome teams from across the state to our beautiful city.
Unfortunately, after an opening round game, the Shishmaref girls’ team had their jerseys and personal items stolen from their team van while out celebrating a big win. But in true Alaskan fashion, our community came together to support this team and provide replacement jerseys and other equipment needed for their second-round game.
Inspired by this amazing community effort, Kendall Auto Alaska donated $2,000 to Shishmaref School’s basketball program to help fund the purchase of new equipment for next season. Go Shishmaref Northern Lights!
