SUMMARY:A New Chapter Begins: Kendall the Dog’s Reading Program Returns to John Tuck Elementary 
DESCRIPTION:Our Kendall Auto Community Outreach pup\, Barketing Manager\, and Employee Therapist\, Kendall\, is kicking off her 4th  year of the Kendall Reading Program at John Tuck Elementary! While this marks the fourth year of the program\, Miss Davenport’s 1st grade class is the going to experience this program for the first time. Kendall visits and reads with the students every Friday to support and encourage their reading. While Kendall is not there\, the 1st graders have been tasked with completing reading minutes at home or completing writing prompts that will spark their imagination. During Kendall’s first visit\, each student will receive a plush Kendall buddy\, ensuring they have a reading companion when she’s not around. As the children achieve their weekly reading and writing goals\, they will earn additional prizes and accessories for their reading buddies.  \nOut of all of Kendall’s projects\, reading with the kids is her favorite initiative. The Kendall Cares Team partnered with John Tuck Elementary to design a program that not only encouraged the kids to read at home but allowed them to improve their reading & writing at school every Friday\, with Kendall. Over this 8-week program\, you can see the progress in their reading as they complete their minutes and earn accessories to put on their very own Kendall reading buddies. The Kendall Cares team would like to thank John Tuck Elementary for inviting us to spend time with their students and curate a learning experience the kids will never forget.

With the growth of Furnish Hope\, and the number of community members in need\, Kendall Cares is honored to partner with Furnish Hope to provide support for hundreds of families across Central Oregon.\n\nTickets are now on sale for Kendall’s Catwalk for a Cause benefitting Furnish Hope on November 8th\, 2025. This year\, 21 courageous community leaders have been chosen as Ambassadors of Hope to not only fundraise\, but model at this year’s event. These inspiring individuals and couples have each committed to fundraising $2500 of more in support of Furnish Hope’s mission. This annual event brings together 300 supporters for a spirited evening of fashion\, fun\, and furnishing homes for local families. DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 4th Annual Kendall Auto Soapbox Derby will be on Saturday\, September 6th at Rivers Edge Golf Course! The Kendall Auto Soapbox Derby was designed to give back to our community while creating a memorable and impactful experience for the participants and spectators. This year\, we are taking the racecourse to the next level\, with new jumps and obstacles built by Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company. Grab a team\, choose a theme for your Soapbox car\, and enter to win up to $10\,000 in prizes split between your team and your chosen Central Oregon nonprofit. \nThe Kendall Auto Soapbox Derby is a motorless car race; the cars only accelerate with the help of gravity. The slope of the hill helps propel the cars around corners and obstacles without using an engine or motor. All soapbox cars are built by teams\, and each must have functional brakes and steering. We recommend equipping your build with suspension to withstand the jumps & obstacles! Teams will be scored on three categories: the design and creativity of your car\, voted on by the spectators\, a performance by the team before you hit the racecourse\, scored by our judges\, and how fast you make it down the hill! \nWe are so excited to see the builds & meet the teams this year and would like to extend the opportunity for our local business partners to get in on the fun. The Soapbox Derby was designed to give back to our community through an unforgettable experience\, and sponsorships were designed to give even more. Three Peaks Performance is a youth basketball-focused nonprofit committed to developing a culture of leaders on and off the court\, to impact the community in a positive way. The organization was founded by former collegiate basketball student-athletes\, Alyssa Martin and Jacki Gulcynzki. After sharing a vision for a program that builds youth basketball in Central Oregon\, Jacki & Alyssa developed Three Peaks built on the values of community\, development\, and passion.  \nSince 2017\, the program has grown from one team with two coaches to over 17 spring/summer travel teams\, 20+ coaches\, and over 200 participants. With the growth of the program\, Three Peaks wants to provide more opportunities for youth athletes in Central Oregon by providing scholarships and keeping costs for gym rentals low\, and quality of coaches and programs high. To support the growth\, Three Peaks hosted their first dinner & fundraiser at Kendall in 2024\, where their organization raised over $10\,000. Three Peaks Performance will be hosting their second fundraiser with a dinner\, live and silent auction\, and so many more surprises! These funds will give more players the opportunity to participate\, compete in tournaments\, and be coached by a staff with strong experience!

Kendall Central Oregon has partnered with Newport Market for our annual Peanut Butter Drive\, benefitting NeighborImpact Food Bank. For the entire month of May\, Kendall will be donating one case (6 jars) of Peanut Butter for every car sold\, and one jar for every client service repair. Our partners at Newport Market will be hosting & amplifying the drive as well\, giving customers the opportunity to purchase a jar or a case at checkout. The Peanut Butter Drive would not be possible without Newport Market\, who doubles the impact at their store and provides all the peanut butter fresh and at cost. This not only allows our organizations to increase the amount donated but ensures that quality peanut butter gets into the hands of families and local food pantries that need it the most.  \nWhy Peanut Butter: Peanut butter is one of the most highly requested items among food banks in the US. Food banks often have to purchase peanut butter to meet the demand for it\, due to the fact that it is a shelf-stable protein (contains 8g of protein per serving\, fuels summer lunch programs and food pantries year-round\, and is loved by children\, adults\, and senior citizens alike.  \nWhere Does the Peanut Butter Go? The PB starts at Newport Market & Kendall Dealerships\, where it will then go to NeighborImpact Food Bank’s new warehouse in Redmond. From the warehouse\, over 59 partner food pantries\, Meal Sites\, and shelters will pick up the Peanut Butter—among many other food items—and then distribute it throughout Central Oregon. NeighborImpact Food bank has Partner Agencies in Bend\, Redmond\, Madras\, The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs\, LaPine\, Sisters\, and Prineville. Most importantly\, the PB donated through this drive will stock summer lunch programs for kids in need while they are not in school to ensure every child has a safe\, successful summer.   \nAbout NeighborImpact Food Bank: NeighborImapct Food Bank serves Partner Agencies in Bend\, Redmond\, Madras\, The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs\, LaPine\, Sisters\, and Prineville. In 2024\, NeighborImpact network provided food assistance 857\,513 times—that’s an average of 71\,459 people served per month throughout Central Oregon. 36% of the individuals served are children. In total\, NeighborImpact and their partner agencies distributed over six million pounds of food last year\, direct to families or through partner agencies to all ages.  \nWhy We Need Your Help: We are asking our community to join us in the Peanut Butter Drive 2025 to increase the impact from previous years. Despite efforts in years past\, the Peanut Butter donated only lasts for a few months\, before it is all distributed to families and partner agencies. Kendall will be awarding three $1000 scholarships to members of the Bend FFA\, Redmond FFA\, and Crook County FFA chapter. Applications were submitted from students at Mountain View High School\, Redmond High School\, and Crook County High School. On April 24th\, Kendall team members will be going into each of these high schools to present big checks to the winners\, and hear more about what they plan on doing with their higher education journeys! \nThe FFA (Future Farmers of America) plays a crucial role in shaping the future of agriculture by equipping young people with leadership skills\, practical knowledge\, and a strong work ethic. DESCRIPTION:Easter is just around the corner\, and every child deserves a visit from the Easter Bunny! The Kendall Team\, including the Easter Bunny\, will be visiting the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House and St. Charles to deliver Easter Baskets and provide families with the opportunity to take photos with the Easter Bunny. The Kendall Cares team has been working with the Easter Bunny to make baskets full of surprises for the patients and siblings of children receiving care. On April 10th\, the Easter Bunny will make a visit to the Ronald McDonald House and then hop over to St. Charles\, where all families will get to meet him! This invite is not only open to the pediatric and NICU departments\, but all families who are there visiting members receiving care. Stay tuned to find out what those Easter Baskets are hiding; the only hint we can give is that our partners at Slumberkins made sure every child will have a kin to snuggle when they are feeling down!

Ambassadors from across the nation step up and use the power of wearing pink to raise funds to end breast cancer as we know it. From patient support to research\, these funds make a huge difference in the community. \nJosh Brown\, finance manager at Kendall\, has stepped up to be our 2024 Men Wear Pink Representative. This is Josh’s third year as an ambassador and has ambitious goals of raising over $5000 to support the resources and initiatives led by American Cancer Society. Josh was inspired to join this campaign after his mother fought her own battle with cancer. Ever since\, Josh has wanted to help support the community in its fight to end breast cancer. Kendall Central Oregon is thrilled to announce we will be hosting the 2024 Catwalk event for a well-deserving nonprofit for the second year in a row. Join us for a night of fun\, fundraising\, and fashion with over 300 of Central Oregon’s business leaders\, community members\, models\, and their supporters. Catwalk for a Cause brings seventeen leaders from our business community to walk the runway at Kendall Toyota of Bend on Saturday\, May 11th. Enter a world of glitz\, glamour\, and Gatsby to support children who have been affected by substance abuse within their families by fundraising for the resources and initiatives led by Choose Joy Foundation. \nJoy Christiansen\, founder of Choose Joy Foundation\, is a compassionate individual who saw a need in our community. What started out as Christmas hope\, delivering presents to families that she had just witnessed in the Deschutes County Drug Court\, turned into a nonprofit organization that serves families (over 120 children) year-round. As the number of recovery homes in Central Oregon is increasing\, the number of children in need of support has become much greater. As long as Choose Joy Foundation has the funding\, they will never turn a family away. This event will help the Choose Joy Foundation serve more children in our community with basic care essentials\, furniture\, clothing\, scholastic activities\, and yes\, Christmas. \nWith the funds raised at Catwalk for a Cause in 2023\, Choose Joy Foundation was able to fully furnish four new recovery homes in partnership with Best Care Treatment Services. With two families per house and two to ten children in each\, Choose Joy Foundation’s support gives mothers a year to get back on their feet after and ensures the children stay out of foster homes. Choose Joy Foundation currently supports over 120 kids currently living in recovery homes in Deschutes County alone. \nAll seventeen of our incredible models have pledged to raise $2500 leading up to the event\, where we will then celebrate their hard work by cheering them on as they walk the Catwalk in two separate looks: Gatsby Glamour & Country Club Chic.
