The Kendall Auto Soapbox Derby was designed to give back to our community while creating a memorable and impactful experience for the participants and spectators. This year\, we are taking the racecourse to the next level\, with new jumps and obstacles built by Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company. Grab a team\, choose a theme for your Soapbox car\, and enter to win up to $10\,000 in prizes split between your team and your chosen Central Oregon nonprofit. \nThe Kendall Auto Soapbox Derby is a motorless car race; the cars only accelerate with the help of gravity. The slope of the hill helps propel the cars around corners and obstacles without using an engine or motor. All soapbox cars are built by teams\, and each must have functional brakes and steering. We recommend equipping your build with suspension to withstand the jumps & obstacles! Teams will be scored on three categories: the design and creativity of your car\, voted on by the spectators\, a performance by the team before you hit the racecourse\, scored by our judges\, and how fast you make it down the hill! \nWe are so excited to see the builds & meet the teams this year and would like to extend the opportunity for our local business partners to get in on the fun. Thanks to Citizens for Community\, our dream of developing a movie series for families of all ages is coming to life. We are so excited to be a sponsor of these memorable summer nights\, supporting incredible beneficiaries and creating access to experiences that will last a lifetime. The “Let’s Watch” movie series is free for all attendees and provides opportunities to raise funds for a variety of other local nonprofits.
