Kendall Auto Bend hosted the first ever Kendall Soapbox Derby at OSU Cascades on July 23rd, 2022. In honor of the Kendall Cares 10 year anniversary, Kendall Cares Bend donated $10,000 in prize money between the top 3 teams. Each team chose a local nonprofit they would like to compete on behalf of and donate their prize money to upon completion of the event. With 15 entries from our dealerships and our community, 4 rounds of racing, and over hundreds of votes from the crowd, we were able to crown our top 3 that will go down in Kendall Soapbox Derby History:

FIRST PLACE – Team Mach Schnell from Porsche of Bend! This car scored high on both design & creativity from the crowd and its speed on the course. They will be donating their prize to the Bend Education Foundation to help underserved schools and students in Central Oregon.

SECOND PLACE (TIE) – Ghostbusters from MBSEF! This crew of boys 12 and under won the crowd over with their Ghostbusters theme and their strategic racing style. They tied for second place and will be donating to Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation and Silverton Junior Baseball.

SECOND PLACE (TIE) – Doc’s Downhill Destroyers from Mt. View High School! This high school robotics crew made an unforgettable car that not only had a unique design but unmatched speed with the ability to hit the obstacles. They will be donating to Mountain View High School Robotics (The High Desert Droids) and Heart of Oregon.

Thank you to everyone that participated, volunteered, and helped make this event possible, we cannot WAIT to see what people build next year.
