Supporting Sparrow at Summit High School Launch Assembly

Kendall Central Oregon is proud to announce our support of 2025 Sparrow Clubs fundraisers and community service. Sparrow Clubs is all about compassion, giving students hands-on opportunities to make real-world differences through community service. Each participating school adopts a “Sparrow,” which is a local child 0-17 years old with a life-threatening or affecting illness or condition. Elementary, middle, and high schools rally around their Sparrow, completing 300 hours minimum of community service to unlock sponsored funds dedicated to their Sparrow family! And that’s where organizations like Kendall come in – we get to support this compassion, service, and the families selected by a donation that gets unlocked from students who actively service their communities.

At the beginning of December, the Kendall Cares team joined Summit High School’s Sparrow launch assembly, where students got to meet their Sparrow and learn how to support their selected family. Executive Director, Matt Sampson, shared the mission of Sparrow and introduced Benjamin, an energetic 10-year-old who was adopted by his amazing family at two years old. At birth, he had a serious virus that caused damage to his liver, resulting in a cancer diagnosis in 2023. Unfortunately, Benjamin continues to fight his battle with cancer despite multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments. Luckily, Benjamin was chosen to be a Sparrow, and this community is in the fight with him! Students at Summit High School will spend the next few months completing their community service hours and hosting a fundraiser for Benjamin and other Central Oregon Sparrows.

There are currently 19 Sparrows in Oregon who have been “adopted” by local schools, ready to make a difference. According to Sparrow Clubs USA, “compassion is the currency” of the Sparrow Club program. We are excited to be a part of the life-changing service and fundraisers that will support families who need it most and can’t wait to see the great service our local students provide over the coming year. To Benjamin, the 19 Oregon Sparrows, and participating schools: Kendall Auto Group is rooting for you and are in this with you!
